Climate Emergency / Resilience

 Climate Plans

•  As a major contributor to climate change, cities have a significant role to play in ensuring the world overcomes the climate emergency.
• Estimates suggest that cities are responsible for 75 percent of global CO2 emissions, with transport and buildings being among the largest contributors.
• More national and local governments are declaring climate emergencies and developing plans on how to reduce their emissions.
• To this end, we work with cities and businesses around the globe to develop strategies to help them to reduce their carbon emissions and meet their respective climate goals and can also help you.
Resilience

• Population growth, rapid urbanisation and the increasing impacts of climate change and extreme weather events put our urban infrastructure under severe pressure and many lives and businesses at risk.
• Cities need to ensure they remain resilient and are prepared for future challenges through mitigation and adaptation.
• We have helped cities to respond to these challenges by identifying the right innovative technology and data-led solutions.
• We have also worked with 100 Resilient Cities – now known as the Global Resilient Cities Network – and a number of the network’s city Chief Resilience Officers (CROs).

WLB Climate Group

• Its mission is to drive the region’s global economic competitiveness while pursuing social and environmental sustainability.
• The West London Environment and Climate Change Policy Commission published a report “Green City in the West: Leading the transition” in August 2018 and generated a number of recommendations To put these into practice, WLB set up an Environment and Climate Change policy working group.
• We are pleased to be a part of the working group and to share our perspective on how Smart City technologies can be leveraged to drive greater environmental sustainability.
